Scarlett Johansson's Super Heroine Workout Program

  • Scarlett Johansson's Body Is Outstanding In Iron Man 2!

In the movie Iron Man 2 Scarlett Johansson plays a cool new character, the mysterious undercover Russian secret agent Natasha Romanoff/Natalie Rushman and her alter ego Black Widow.

Although fans of the Iron Man comics would be familiar with Black Widow, Johansson had no idea what would be required of her to play the part. The most worrying part? The unforgiving black Lycra catsuit. She says:

Johansson was required to do her own stunts, of which there are many, so she got herself a trainer to whip her into shape. And it was fitness trainer to the stars, Bobby Strom who was enlisted to transform Johansson into the ass-kicking super vixen the script called for.

Strom designed Scarlett Johansson's workout to create a highly conditioned body that was capable of performing the many forms of hand-to-hand combat, mixed martial arts and gymnastics the Black Widow displays in the movie.

Training focused on building functional strength. This included bodyweight circuits to burn fat while sculpting and conditioning the muscles. This kind of work will not build bulky muscles as it's resistance comes from your own body's weight.

The circuits changed everyday. Sometimes it would just be lower body on it's own, followed by upper body on it's own, or they might alternate between the two each set, or mix them together for a super circuit.

The workouts lasted 90 minutes, and they trained 7 days per week. This continued for 5 months!

They also included kettlebell work and thinks like pull-ups, to build real world strength.

Diet Also Had To Be Redesigned To Fuel Scarlett's New Body

No
  • Salt
  • Sugar
  • Alcohol
  • White bread or pasta
The diet included lots of protein form lean sources such as fish, turkey and eggs. Low GI carbohydrates, and healthy fats.

The importance of diet is often over looked when getting fit. But the simple fact remains you can't out exercise poor nutrition. Scarlett Johansson would not have been able to keep up her punishing workout and stunt training without a proper eating plan.

By focusing on healthy sources of protein, carbs and fat she not only looks super fit, but is now super healthy too.
